Built in 2021, this 1.5 story home features wide passages, automated doors, an elevator, and built-in functionality for the accessible needs of the owners.
After an exploration of an in-place home renovation, it was determined that the best strategy to meet the client’s accessibility needs was to build new.
This home features an accessible master suite on the main level, with direct elevator access to a 2nd floor office. The 2nd floor is filled out with a 2nd office, a guest bedroom, and a full bath.
The main floor is also shared with a spacious laundry room, accessible kitchen, and open concept space with polished concrete floors for ease of maneuvering in a wheelchair. Furthermore, exit and master bedroom doors are all 42” wide, with 48” wide hallways and 36” standard doors at all other locations.
This home features automatic opening doors in the most critical locations, lower outlets and switches for ease of reach, and plumbing fixtures and faucets located in easier to reach locations.
This home also features a generous blending of indoor and outdoor space. A rear enclosed patio with glass automatic overhead doors transitions quickly from indoor to transitional space. Upper balconies provide additional covered outdoor space off the guest bedroom and main office. A front porch and pergola provide a welcoming transition from the street to the front door.
